
Derek McSweenDerek McSween, BA, has over 20 years of professional Construction Project experience encompassing Project Management, Operations, Financial Control, Quality Control, Design Management, Public Bid Laws, Procurement, Construction Change Management, Project Controls, Training, Safety, and Quality Management. As a Senior Project Executive, he has managed and been responsible for oversight of the overall team strategy and development of Project/Program Concept, Procurement, Design Management, Project Implementation , Total Quality Management, HSSE, and Project Closeout for projects and programs whose value exceeds $2 Billion. He spearheads the development of strategic alliances to create workforce development division and course curriculum in all areas of construction trade skills, safety management and project management. His responsibilities have included multi-site project staffing, scheduling, financial controls, budgets, diversity and the use of metrics to measure both internal and external client satisfaction. Additionally, he has written and taught safety training courses including but not limited to OSHA 10 and 30, Job Site Quality, Building Codes and Regulations, Site Specific Safety Plans, Life Safety, Lock Out Tag Out, Project Hazard Analysis, Aerial Lifts, Fall Protection, Personal Safety, Electrical Safety, Mold Related Issues, AED Training, Air Quality Monitoring, Hazardous Communications, Loading Dock Safety, Power Actuated Tools, Risk Assessment and Planning, Warehouse Safety, Administration and Documentation, Fuel, Cutting, and Gas Welding, Compressed Gas, Driving Education, Electrical Safety, and Poison Control. He is a former President of the Toastmasters Public Speaking Club and has trained thousands of workers and small diversity businesses. He was also the Director of Diversity for the Atlanta Committee for the 1996 Olympic Games, a $500 million construction program where he achieved 33% participation for small businesses, architects and engineers and provided jobs for over 200 residents in the local communities. He also provided training to over 100 companies and internal staff in the areas of marketing, financial management, contracts and general principles of Diversity, Construction and business. He also developed and implemented a series of training modules that were free to the local community. He was able to reach out to over 1,000 individuals in the community and provide training in all areas of contracting, Diversity and Sensitivity, and Business Management. |
